JUST ONE
Foo Wen Qi, 15, Singapore
Having just one voice to start it all, I believe will eventually encourage the rest to continue. I painted a portrait of AOC digitally, as I wanted to show that we women have the same rights as everyone else. I used AOC as my subject, because I believe that she is a significant figure that inspires most of us youth, to be courageous and use the voices that we have for the future that we seek, no matter the gender. She shows us that all of us can achieve our dreams, that all the stereotypical things that we’ve known since young, do not apply when we ourselves know the truth deep down. We’re just like a rainbow, we’re all different, no one’s the more superior one. We’re all equal and unique in our own ways and together we’ll build our bridge to the pot of gold, we call our future. I painted the background as space, not only are there countless stars to signify that we are not alone in this world. But to also remind everyone that there will always be light somewhere in the dark and that we shouldn’t lose hope, especially during this covid-19 situation we are all in.
