IIX launches and lists the Women’s Livelihood Bond, a US$8 million debt security – the world’s first listed financial instrument with a dual focus on social and financial return. Also the world’s first multi-country and multi-sector gender-lens investing instrument, the four-year bond listed on the Singapore Exchange attracted global investor interest from the U.S., Europe, and Asia – with over 60% of investor participation from Asia. This innovative financial structure mobilized capital to support a group of high-impact enteprises and microfinance institutions in Vietam, Cambodia, and the Philippines to impact the lives of over 385,000 women through enhancing credit access, market linkages, resources, and affordable goods and services.
